National Trails Day - Sat. 6/4/2011

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
-- Psalms 19:1-3 (NKJV)

Tomorrow, 6/4/2011, is National Trails Day -- a day designed to focus on the value of our "Green Spaces".  GOD has blessed Alabama with some of the most wonderful examples of HIS creation.  Hot summer temperatures not withstanding, the ecosystems of the South are just about perfect!

One can experience a plethora of physiographic regions from the Gulf Coastal Lowlands, East Gulf Coastal Plain, to the Cumberland Plateau and Highland Rim.  You can dig your toes in to fluffy white beach sand, kayak through a major delta wetland, shoot white-water rapids, hike pine and hardwood forests filled with beautiful flora and fauna, bike single track or a rail-trail, ride a horse through the forest and plan, or climb the boulders and cliffs of the Alabama Valley and Ridge or Little River Canyon.  You can step back in time as you gaze at Natural Bridge or the Dismals Canyon or hike the back country in search of The Big Tree.  A tall, mist shrouded  Longleaf Pine forest awaits your exploration in Conecuh National Forest.  Crystal clear and invigoratingly cold springs beckon you to take a dip at Blue Springs.  That monster bass or bluegill is always available for a battle in any one of numerous lakes, rivers, and ponds.

What ever your method of appreciation, I hope that you will take time soon (and often) to enjoy GOD's Creation.  I trust that you will thank HIM for what HE does every day in and through this magnificent handiwork.  Experience the wonder, joy, and adventure -- worship GOD in the beauty of HIS creation.  Share the experience with others.  Take care of these gems HE has in trusted in our care.

Take time to live.  "... I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly." -- JESUS in John 10:10b.

I pray that you have a wonderful day of hiking. That you have a day with God. A day full of blessings and feel God's Holy Spirit with you and in you.I would give anything that I have to be with you today. Side by side as you walk your path. May you feel not only God's love, but the love that I have for you. May you not only feel it but may God allow you to see it.
